Insomnia Blues
I walked in to the door
it was terribly late
i looked at my watch
it said "3:48"
so why in the world am I still awake
and I started lookin' for
something to take

I tried doin' yoga
I tried TM
Tried self hypnosis
and I tried Zen
I tried eatin and
I tried drinkin'
bit the whole damn time
I just kept thinkin':

Why can't I sleep at night
when I get home?
Insomnia just won't leave me alone.

so, I took a hot bath
I tried a cold shower
and I listened to "time"
on the phone for an hour,
tried some hot milk
and I tried countin' sheep, but
I just coudn't seem to get to sleep.

I tried readin' books
and watchin TV,
turned the radio on,
drank Chamomile tea,
picked up my guitar
and I wrote this song,
but the whole damn time
there was something wrong!

Why can't I sleep at night
when I get home?
Insomnia just won't leave me alone.

I finally go to bed
and to my surprise
was a beautiful woman
with big brown eyes
and she said,
"I bet I know
why you're still wired"
and she proceeded to
make me tired
and hugged me and kissed me
and squeezed me tight
so we made sweet love
for most of that night
and now that I know
just what I've been missin'
gonna tell you about and
you better listen:

Now I sleep wonderful
when I get home
with a lover like her,
Insomnia leaves me alone
it leaves me alone, leaves me alone.
