Half the profits from the download of our new single, " Don't Listen To This Song" go to an excellent cause, Half The Sky, an organization dedicated to the empowerment of oppressed women around the globe, including ending human trafficking, forced prostitution and the continued sexual abuse of young women in third world countries.

Help me help young women like the one in this photo.

Well, it was an interesting 2012. We saw the reluctant exit of the very talented guitarist Larry Smith, some serious studio upgrades,
a new EP, a new single and now, before January is over, the release of a another new single, guaranteed to rattle your cage and curl your hair. It's called (ironically), "Don't Listen to This Song"; a song about how people with closed minds should also come with closed mouths. It kicks serious ass and we're all really proud of how it came out. Be sure to let us know what you think.

This year, look for some live videos, live performances and more new music from CSB. Thanks for your relentless support.
Take it light!

Chuck

As usual, we're back in the studio producing our next single, "Don't Listen To This Song", a song that addresses the concept that people with closed minds usually don't have closed mouths.

My old friend in the Netherlands, Eric Campfens, has just updated his Website, Blues Magazine, where he just reviewed our last EP, The Sound Of The Chameleon". Even though it's written in Dutch, thanks to Google Translate installed at the bottom of the page, you can read it in English here.

There's been some more studio upgrades, so expect our new recordings to sound even better than the last ones. We'll keep you posted as new tracks are finshed

While I truly couldn't care less what anyone thinks about my voice, I'd like to make just one comment about it. And, after having said this, I will never say another word about it again. It's not an argument; it's my opinion.

CSB is about well-written songs and great musicianship. No one in this band is trying to be the next American Idol. I am not promoting myself as a great singer. I am a songwriter and a guitarist. Rockn'roll history is full of singers who sing no better or worse than I do, and yet, they are some of the most successful artists in the past 40 years: Jimi Hendrix, Joe Cocker, Elvis Costello, Mark Knopfler, Bob Dylan, David Byrne, Billy Gibbons, Donald Fagan, Bryan Ferry, Billy Corgan, Leon Russell, Bruce Springsteen, etc.....

So in reality, I am in really great company. I mention these artists not to compare myself to any of them,
but argue that, just like them, as a singer, I am also a stylist. You either like that style or you don't.
Clearly, our 1200+ fans around the world like it.

Since I have no other voice than the one I've got, it will never change.
I will never defend the way I sound.
I'm okay with it.

Chuck Schaeffer

"The Chuck Schaeffer Band brings it, balls to bones in "The Sound of the Chameleon". And a chameleon he truly is. At first listening,
I heard ghosts; the haunting influences of Dylan, Richards, Clapton, Page (al la Yardbirds) and the jaunty pop/rock of tunesmith Elvis Costello.

Chuck Schaeffer clearly hold his own with this heady company. From  the title track, "The Sound of the Chameleon", he swaggers with a tender confidence that both captivates and mystifies.

"Look No Further" is a rock and roll collision of psychedelic sounds and Schaeffer's own spin on the blues.

In "The Only Choice (The 'Bite Me' Song)", Chuck simply slams it out of the park. The lyrics are witty and insightful. Schaeffer rips with with sonic magic on his ever faithful fretboard.

"Try A Little Gray" is a call for world peace; a happy ending for this EP. Is this chameleon's cry too ideal? Perhaps; but as long a Chuck Schaeffer Band continues seeking, this artist will continue to transform and change colors. Schaeffer submerges and re-emerges, always transcending and rearranging. Chuck Schaeffer Band delivers and arrives, again and again and again."
